The cathedral’s seniors are a diverse, stimulating community of seasoned people who are aging with grace. We gather to learn, grow, stay healthy and enjoy each other’s company – and everyone is welcome at our gatherings.
Once or twice a year, we enjoy a retreat in beautiful Healdsburg. This fall, it will be held on October 22-24. In addition to beautiful scenery, our group will enjoy a program that includes arts and crafts, social hour, Holy Eucharist, Compline, meditation, music, walks on the labyrinth and pastoral appointments.
All are welcome; RSVP is required. Transportation to and from the cathedral is included in the attendance costs.
Community Days occur on the fourth Thursday of each month (unless affected by a holiday) from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Enjoy continental breakfast, Bible study (optional social hour), and a topical presentation. We gather for the 12:10 p.m. Holy Eucharist in the Chapel of Grace and then return to the Dining Room for a catered luncheon. We conclude our day with the sharing of senior grocery care bags.
Most senior events take place in the Chapter House Dining Room.
Virtuoso organist Dorothy Papadakos will get our seniors into the spirit of Halloween and spook them with Nosferatu and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. We’ll have the opportunity to hear Dorothy practice on the cathedral’s 7,466 pipe Aeolian-Skinner organ, an historic instrument installed in 1934, in preparation for her silent film accompaniment performances later that night in the cathedral.
Celebrate to give thanks and to share in one another’s company as our Rev. Heather Erickson leads us as we share stories of connection and gratitude. All will have a chance to speak and share. We will be enjoying a soul-soothing, hot catered Thanksgiving lunch prepared by our local chef Cynthia and her crew.
Join us for our Christmas carols sing-along led by our Rev. Margaret Deeths, Deacon, as she reveals the fascinating historical origins behind each musical selection. We will also enjoy a warm, comforting Christmas meal prepared by our local chef Cynthia and her crew.
