The cathedral’s seniors are a diverse, stimulating community of seasoned people who are aging with grace. We gather to learn, grow, stay healthy and enjoy each other’s company – and everyone is welcome at our gatherings.
With the cathedral closed and San Francisco focused on community health, we have a unique opportunity to experience community, faith and one another in new ways. Read more here about how our Senior Care and Advocacy Team are caring for the Seniors of Grace. We invite you to stay connected with Grace through our online events, blog and social media. A message for our seniors:
“It is with prudent precaution that Grace Cathedral has decided to postpone our Senior Community Day in light of the coronavirus pandemic. City, state, federal, international and Diocesan authorities have all made statements about the importance of limiting interpersonal contact especially for the sake of seniors and vulnerable people with health conditions. As an intergenerational community, we are especially concerned about members of the Grace Cathedral family who are most threatened by the illness. Our greatest concern is for all of you and your health and well-being. Thank you for your patience during this time as we navigate uncharted territory. The Rev. Mary Carter Greene, Minister for Congregational Life and her team are crafting creative ways to stay connected and to support each other during this challenging time. Please reach out to outreach@gracecathedral.org or call Rev. Mary Carter if you have questions and/or if you are in need of community support. We are holding you all in prayer.”
Community Days
Community Days occur on the fourth Thursday of each month (unless affected by a holiday) from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Enjoy continental breakfast, Bible study (optional social hour), and a topical presentation. We gather for the 12:10 p.m. Holy Eucharist in the Chapel of Grace and then return to the Dining Room for a catered luncheon. We conclude our day with the sharing of senior grocery care bags.
Most senior events take place in the Chapter House Dining Room.
