All are welcome at Grace Cathedral.
Be part of a community where prayer, social justice, and celebration of the arts are alive!

Our Vision

Reimagining church with courage, joy, and wonder.

Our Mission

A spiritually alive world.

Our Values

Grace Cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of California and we are a warm congregation, the seat of the Diocese of California and a house of prayer for all people.

The cathedral is home to a community where the best of Episcopal tradition courageously embraces innovation and open-minded conversation, where inclusion is expected and people of all faiths are welcomed, where beliefs are put into action and where people are encouraged to seek God and progress on their own spiritual journeys. The cathedral itself, a renowned San Francisco landmark, serves as a magnet, where diverse people gather to worship, celebrate, seek solace, converse and learn.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is the official governing body of Grace Cathedral. Nine of the 37 members are elected by the congregation and 28 are elected by the Board from the congregation and the community at large. The Bishop of California serves as the President, and the Dean of Grace Cathedral serves as Vice President.

Deanery Delegates

Grace Cathedral elects representatives from the Cathedral congregation to serve on the San Francisco Deanery of the Diocese of California. The delegation attends the four San Francisco Deanery Convocations held around the City each year and together, with other San Francisco Episcopal congregations and institutions, oversees support of local congregation ministries, local policy and the local deanery treasury.

At the Diocesan level, Grace’s delegates to the annual Diocesan Convention are charged with governing the by-laws of the Diocese, managing the Diocesan treasury, determining policies and policy positions applicable to all congregations and institutions within the Diocese and oversight of diocesan ministries.

The Congregation Council

The Congregation Council are the elected representatives of Grace Cathedral. To further Grace’s mission to the community within us and around us, we work to empower, enable, and enlarge the cathedral’s many ministries. Council work focuses on leadership development, outreach, stewardship, hospitality, discipleship, and spiritual growth for individuals, groups, and the congregation at large.
