Ash Wednesday Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes (In-Person and Livestream)

February 14 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

Blending traditional texts and local innovation, this liturgy is celebrated by our Vice Dean, The Rev. Canon Dr. Greg Kimura, with The Very Rev. Dr. Malcolm Clemens Young, Dean, preaching. Musicians from diverse cathedral contexts lead hymns and offer spirituals in the Southern Harmony tradition.

Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent, a time of renewal, repentance, and preparation for the Easter feast. Ashes, typically made from dried palm branches from the prior year’s Palm Sunday celebration, are a potent sign of our mortality. In taking stock of the brevity of human life, we also reflect on the areas of our lives that are estranged from God’s presence, and resolve to turn again towards God’s boundless mercy and love.

When the online version of the service leaflet becomes available, you can view it here.
