Choral Evensong with Multifaith Prayers for the Nation (In-Person and Livestream)

November 7 @ 5:30 pm - 6:15 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

In this Choral Evensong immediately following elections, our traditional service includes the presence of faith leaders from other traditions and multifaith prayers for the nation. Accompanied by Choir of Men and Boys, together in prayer for our country, we can embrace the wisdom of our diverse traditions and demonstrate that differences can enrich rather than divide us.

With a special welcome by Bishop Austin Rios, this service is also co-sponsored by the San Francisco Interfaith Council.

One of the treasures of the Anglican tradition, Choral Evensong is a service of sung Evening Prayer. It combines music with readings from scripture, ancient and contemporary prayers, and a brief homily or reflection. The music includes psalms, canticles and an anthem, all sung by the choir, with congregational hymns and an organ prelude and postlude. The beauty of the music is offered to help us set our lives in the light of eternity; the same light which dwelt among us in Jesus, and which now illuminates us by the Spirit. This centuries-old service presents the finest of the Anglican musical tradition and is regularly sung in cathedrals and churches around the world.
