SFexit: A Few Remaining Evensongs before the Choir Leaves for Britain
Blog|Sue Crawford
On July 15, Grace Cathedral’s Choir of Men and Boys will depart for the ancient English city of Salisbury on their Evensong Tour. They will sing Choral Evensong at the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral each evening from Monday, July 18 through Saturday, July 23. On July 21, they will also sing a lunchtime concert at Christchurch Priory in Bournemouth. The choir will visit other great English cathedrals such as Gloucester, Wells and Winchester and take tours of Stratford, Bath, Oxford and historic Stonehenge. Canterbury Cathedral, one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England, has also honored the choir with an invitation to sing Evensong on Sunday, July 24. Our choir members will fly home to San Francisco on July 26 and the men of the choir will sing at Grace once again on Sunday, July 31. We invite you to hear the choir’s tour repertoire at three pre-tour Evensongs at 5:15 pm on July 11, 12 and 13. A special feature of the July 12 Evensong is that the choir will sing in the Chapel of Grace and people coming for Tuesday night yoga will be able to enjoy the music as they set up their mats.
