The Men of Grace is a group dedicated to faith in and service to Christ at the cathedral. The group hosts a variety of activities each year to deepen spiritual faith and provide service to the greater cathedral community. The Men of Grace meet on the second Sunday of each month at 1 pm in the Chapter House Library.
How would you like to help build a tree house on the grounds of our diocesan retreat center in the beautiful Sonoma wine country? Or complete a chicken coop for a San Francisco neighborhood mission? How about helping serve dinner to 50 homeless men after praying with them in a winter shelter? Or gathering to pick out Christmas toys to be given to children of inmates at the county and city jails? Do you seek to deepen your faith as a modern Christian man through spiritual discussion, reflection and retreat?
If the questions above sparked your interest, check us out. We are the Men of Grace, and our group is dedicated to faith in and service to Christ at the cathedral. We meet on the second Sunday of each month at 1 pm in the Chapter House Library.
As indicated, we support a wide variety of activities throughout the year in the cathedral community to strengthen our faith and fulfill our commitment of Christian service to others. The calendar which appears below, lists a variety of specific events for showing up and becoming an active member of the Men of Grace. If you would like to receive updates about what we’re up to, please send your email address to us at [email protected]
We have a 30 year history of action and involvement at the cathedral, and we want you to be part of it!
Jim Lamb, our Membership Coordinator is waiting to welcome you and answer any questions!
Alan Beber, Convener of the Men of Grace with good friend Requinto.
As a part of our Reflections Series, we recently toasted Bayview Mission and its founder, the Rev. Nina Pickerrell, who spoke about her experiences and perspectives. She was interviewed by Men of Grace Stan Gwyn (left) and Rob Stuart (right).
Joe Garity, Hospitality Hour Coordinator for the Men of Grace provides Ron Berg with coffee and information about joining our email list.
One of the projects completed by the Men of Grace at a recent work weekend at the Bishop’s Ranch was to move and mount this 2500 gallon water tank which will serve future campers at the Ranch.
At the neighborhood Bayview Mission, part of our group (l to r, Stan Gwyn, Tom Leffler, Jim Lamb, and Jeb Seder) put the finishing touches on new chicken coop fencing for a work project to provide new roaming space outside the coop.
Observant hen, Lucille inspected the fencing and clucked her approval after making the rounds.
The Men of Grace celebrated its 30th Anniversary in 2016 with an informal September garden party supper (with cakes!) along with a festive December dinner party.
