The Rev. Canon Anna E. Rossi will moderate the program.

About the Speakers

Mattie Scott: As the founder and Executive Director of Healing 4 Our Families & Our Nation (H4OF&ON), Mattie is a veteran with many decades of experience in the fields of violence prevention, gun violence survivorship, and activism. She is also the San Francisco Chapter Leader of Mothers-in-Charge, the Brady California President, and Brady San Francisco Chapter Co-Lead. Mattie advocates to stop gun violence across California and nationally, from San Francisco to Sacramento to the White House.

Ruth Borenstein: Ruth is the Brady California Legislative Lead and San Francisco Chapter Co-Lead. She is a retired attorney and, although not herself a survivor, she saw the devastating effects of gun violence firsthand when she was called to the scene of a workplace shooting to assist a client. As a lawyer, Ruth worked on several pro bono amicus briefs in support of gun safety laws. She attended many vigils, rallies, and marches over the years, including one where she met Mattie Scott, who inspired her to do more.

Kath Tsakalakis: Kath is a Brady National Board Member, NorCal Regional Leadership Council Co-Chair, and San Francisco Chapter Co-Lead. She worked for 20 years in strategy consulting, including two years in South Africa, where she survived an armed carjacking. Her understanding of guns from three years in the British Army has turned out to be very relevant to life as an American citizen. Both her sons report that lockdown drills are pointless because school shooters know where everyone hides.
