The Heart of the Matter: Gun Violence and the Law

Join Alex Nguyen, senior research manager for GIFFORDS Law Center, whose advocacy centers on mobilizing voters and educating lawmakers; drafting, implementing, and defending laws that make our country safer; and supporting candidates and elected officials who have the courage to stand up for lifesaving gun laws.

Nguyen will reflect on current legislation and trends across the nation, and goals for the future. This program is part of Grace Cathedral’s social justice initiative “Beyond Thoughts and Prayers: Responding Faithfully to Gun Violence.”

About the Speaker

Alex Nguyen joined GIFFORDS Law Center in 2020 and is the senior research manager for the organization. He uses data and evidence to look for new perspectives and approaches to gun violence prevention. Alex has authored research reports and memos focused on gun violence in the US territories and gun violence in Asian and Pacific Islander communities. Before joining GIFFORDS, Alex worked on improving community-based interventions and helped conduct research regarding the experiences of undocumented individuals in California. Alex received an MPH from the Fielding School of Public Health and an MA in Asian American Studies from UCLA.
