Sacramento Street is fairly steep between Taylor and Jones Streets. Nonetheless, there is pedestrian and wheelchair access to Grace Cathedral and the outdoor labyrinth at 1231 Sacramento Street through the covered carriage entrance or “breezeway” onto the plaza between the Chapter House and Grace Cathedral. There is no vehicle access to the cathedral from Sacramento Street.

Accessible Entrances to Grace Cathedral
Grace Cathedral has accessible entrances through the double glass doors at 1051 Taylor Street immediately north of the great steps; from the Grace Cathedral Parking Garage on Taylor Street between the California and Sacramento Streets; and from Sacramento Street.
The official address of Grace Cathedral is 1100 California Street, in San Francisco, CA, although the main entrance is on Taylor Street. The main phone number is 415.749.6300.
After entering through the double glass doors at 1051 Taylor Street, continue forward along the hall and immediately take the first left. If you find the corridor doors closed, this means the Cathedral is closed. If the corridor is open, continue towards the Women’s Restroom, turn right and continue down the hall. Eventually, you will come to an elevator on your right. Take the elevator to the first floor and you will be on the main floor of Grace Cathedral.
Grace Cathedral Garage is a paid parking garage managed by SP+ Parking in association with The Masonic. The number to call for questions about the garage is 415.474.1567. The parking garage’s regular operating hours are:
Monday–Friday, 5:30 am – 10 pm
Saturday-Sunday, 6:30 am – 10 pm
Grace Cathedral Garage connects directly to the lower level of Grace Cathedral. It has 110 parking spaces, including 6 accessible ones. Many spaces are reserved by neighborhood residents with monthly parking subscriptions, so parking can be limited during holidays and large events at Grace Cathedral or at The Masonic.
The garage has two levels: the lower level, called G1, and the upper level, called G2.
There are two accessible routes to enter Grace Cathedral from inside the parking garage.
- At the southeast corner of level G1 is a set of double doors painted purple. There are signs on the walls and arrows on the floor throughout the garage leading you to the purple doors. Above these doors is a large sign that reads, “GRACE CATHEDRAL ENTRANCE / WILSEY CENTER / TAYLOR STREET”. Pass through the double doors, proceed down the short hallway and turn left, pass the glass display cases and turn right.
- Another way to exit the garage is by taking the elevator on the north side of the garage up to the first floor of the Chapter House. through the lobby of the Chapter House and continuing diagonally across the plaza past the fountain towards the front of the Cathedral. The entrance is the furthest door, the one closest to California Street.
Elevator access to the Chapter House is limited to 9:30 am and 5 pm and Monday through Friday (except holidays), Sundays from 8 am to 1 pm. The Chapter House elevator is also open for special services and events. At other times, the public only has access to use the elevator to travel between levels G1 and G2 within the garage.
At the northeast corner of the plaza between Grace Cathedral and the Chapter House, a long ramp winds through the gardens leading to the outdoor labyrinth, which is always open to the public.
The Masonic Garage (SP+ Parking) is another paid parking garage located at 1111 California Street across the street from Grace Cathedral. The number for the Masonic Garage is 415.474.1567.
If Grace Cathedral Garage is full, there is usually parking available at the Masonic Garage, with a total of 560 parking spaces, including 10 accessible ones.
