LINES Ballet Belly Dance Workshop
October 29, 2019
Experience farha—never ending joy—at the heart of belly dance, at this free workshop with Alonzo King LINES Ballet | Dance Center teacher Monica Berini, in the cool and awesome architecture of Grace Cathedral.
Learn Egyptian-style belly dance with a musical context in the beauty of Grace Cathedral! After a dance-oriented warm-up, Monica will lead the class through a mix of both social and stage style dance movements to upbeat Arabic music. Participants will have a chance to interpret both rhythms and melody while experiencing firsthand the farha—joy—that dancing can bring. This dance form is rooted in folkloric styles, and is open and accessible to all. Monica brings nearly three decades of dance and music experience to her work, and she is a current Artist-in-Residence at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, a performing member of Aswat Ensemble and a teacher at LINES Dance Center.
