Recurring Event Event Series: Youth Mental Health First Aid

Youth Mental Health First Aid

March 28 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Registration for this training is now closed. Please email Steph McNally if you would like to be notified of a future training session.

Our young people are being impacted by what has been described as a “youth mental health crisis.” Mental health challenges are the leading cause of disability and poor life outcomes in youth aged 12 to 18. Over 2.7 million young people are experiencing severe major depression. Suicide is the second highest cause of death in the nation for youth aged 12 to 18.

We are called to support our youth and respond to them when they are in crisis. Research shows that faith-based organizations can play a critical role in supporting mental health in young people. Each of us can play a role in supporting our young people and saving lives.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is an internationally-recognized certificate that prepares individuals to respond to youth in crisis. YMHFA is designed to teach youth professionals, parents, caregivers, teachers, school staff, neighbors, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12–18) who is experiencing a mental health crisis.

Our training will be facilitated by Senior Educator Deb Massey of Jewish LearningWorks. Participants will learn key strategies to support young people and consider the particular role faith-based organizations can play in this sacred work.
