Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

October 29 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Pattern on the floor of Grace Cathedral, Copyright David Palmer

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) provides strategies for helping an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

This training is recommended for parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, neighbors, and health and human services workers. Grace Cathedral is offering this important training for free to congregants in one of these or a similar category. (Donations are appreciated).

Please email Steph McNally if you would like to participate.

Training will be led by Deb Massey, Associate Director of Youth Programs and Services at Jewish Family and Children’s Services. Deb will lead us in a thought-provoking reflection on how we can, as people of faith and concerned citizens, support and encourage our precious young people.

This two-part training will take place 6-9 pm on Tuesday, October 22 and 29.
