Sing for Ukraine: Ukrainian National Choir of California

February 24 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free – $40

Grace Cathedral and Ukrainian American Coordinating Council (UACC) present the Ukrainian National Choir of California on the one-year anniversary of the War in Ukraine.

Led by conductor Greg Hallick, the members of the Choir hail from Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. We are joined this evening by members of Bay Area Orchestra Musicians under the baton of Maestro Diego Hernandez, who shall accompany the choir in beautiful arrangements of several different genres of Ukrainian music…..Liturgical, patriotic, folk and whimsical “kolomaykas.”

Soloists are Ola Herasymenko-Olinyk, Ukrainian Banduist (the Bandura is the Ukrainian national instrument); Ivanna Taratula-Filipenko, Mezzo Soprano, who has sung with the Lviv National Opera Company; and Oleksandra Zabashta, Lyric Soprano, who has sung with the Kyiv Operetta Company.

As war continues to ravage Ukraine, the “SING FOR UKRAINE” program is intended to raise awareness of the war’s injustice and the extreme hardships placed upon the civilian population. All proceeds raised this evening will support Ukraine’s urgent needs.

Please sit back and let the beautiful melodies envelop you and carry you away to the plains of Ukraine, the majestic mountains, and inviting seashore of the Black Sea. Envision the sights, sounds, culture, and heritage of a proud and heroic people.
