Healing Prayer

November 17 @ 12:15 pm - 12:35 pm

Room with sign: "AIDS Interfaith Memorial Chapel"

The Eucharist serves as a primary sacrament of healing for the Christian people. In addition, in times of particular hardship, illness, or distress, personal prayers for healing can aid in restoring us to health and wholeness. At Grace Cathedral, prayers for healing are offered monthly on the Second Sunday, immediately following the 11 am. Choral Eucharist. Prayers are offered by a team, and to one person at a time. When it’s your time, you can approach the kneeler. It is fine to kneel or stand. It’s helpful to offer your name and a brief description of what ails you. A healing minister — either a lay person or ordained priest or deacon — will also offer to anoint you with oils that have been blessed during a Holy Week liturgy with the clergy of the diocese. This is intended to be a meaningful, but brief, encounter. If a longer conversation is merited, you may also wish to contact the pastoral staff at pastoralcare@gracecathedral.org.
