Surrender yourself with a one-of-a-kind whole-body experience: A Sound Bath in the ambiance of a magnificent sacred space.

Presented by Grace Cathedral, our Sound Bath features Fractals of Sound, a collective of top Bay Area musicians Egemen Sanli, Phoenix Song, and Sam Jackson. Together with special guest Eliyahu Sills, they deliver on their passion for creating a soundscape deeply rooted in world music. The cathedral contributes its reverberant 7-12 second delay, making it a virtual fifth musician.

Bring your favorite yoga mat and/or blanket (for cozy fun) and take a deeply meditative sonic journey with immersive sound and light filtered through stunning stained glass, in an atmosphere unlike any other in San Francisco.

Choose how you would like to experience the Sound Bath:

Sitting — In the pews facing the stage, the center of the cathedral.

Lying Down — In the front entrance of the cathedral, the aisles, and in the side areas.

Lying Down Premier — Reserved spaces on the labyrinth and at the front and sides of the stage.

Event Details 

Doors open for seating at 6:30 pm. The entrance to the cathedral is at the top of the Great Steps. The accessible entrance is via the glass doors on Taylor Street or from the cathedral garage. Due to the quiet nature of this event, there will be no late seating. Please arrive no later than 7 pm. Tickets are available online only; no ticket sales at the door.

Masks are strongly encouraged inside the cathedral but not required. There will be a designated area with ventilation for those who would prefer to wear a mask.

Refunds and Exchanges 

• Refunds will be granted if the requests are received 24 hours before the start of the event.
• Requests to exchange a ticket for another date will be granted if received by noon on the day of the event. 

About Fractals of Sound

Egemen Sanli is a modern dervish, carrying the flag of his Turkish roots as a musician. He plays the sitar alongside other ethnic instruments (shamisen, saz, hang and handpan drums, banjo, flutes). He utilizes beats, loops, and tanpura machines to compliment his joyful improvisations based on traditional Eastern ragas. He lives and performs regularly in the Bay Area; he is also a certified Yoga teacher.  

Phoenix Song (formerly known as Amber Field) has been performing since 2004 and was featured in San Francisco Magazine’s Best of the Bay for yoga music in 2009. They have lived in Korea, Nepal, India, Liberia, Peru, and the SF Bay Area and specialize in world fusion. Phoenix Song plays didgeridoo, esraj, djembe, Native flute, harmonium and sings like an angel. They love to free people’s voices and drums in private and group classes.   

Sam Jackson, founder and director of VibrantStillness is a masterful Crystal Bowls player. His resonant melodies and floating harmonics unite the spaces of composition and sound healing. As a founding musician of Grace Cathedral’s Yoga on the Labyrinth, his Crystal Bowls and Paiste Gongs have inspired thousands of yoga practitioners to ground into their moving meditation with a vibrant sense of calm and presence.

About the Special Guest

Eliyahu Sills is a highly acclaimed musician of many instruments and deep knowledge of multiple musical traditions, from spiritual music of the Middle East and India to American music of Soul and Jazz and their African roots. He is a leader and collaborator of many projects, most notably, The Qadim Ensemble, which brings together diverse cultures of the Middle East, whose CD reached #7 on Billboard’s World Music charts; and BOLO which blends infectious rhythms of dance music, the improvisation of jazz, the cultural depth of world music, and the soulfulness of devotional kirtan. Eliyahu also performs as a solo artist and with his duo, plays Hindustani Ragas, Middle Eastern Sufi music, and Jewish songs on the oud, ney, and bansuri.
