About Fractals of Sound

Egemen Sanli is a modern dervish, carrying the flag of his Turkish roots as a musician. He plays the sitar alongside other ethnic instruments (shamisen, saz, hang and handpan drums, banjo, flutes). He utilizes beats, loops, and tanpura machines to compliment his joyful improvisations based on traditional Eastern ragas. He lives and performs regularly in the Bay Area; he is also a certified Yoga teacher.

Phoenix Song (formerly known as Amber Field) has been performing since 2004 and was featured in San Francisco Magazine’s Best of the Bay for yoga music in 2009. They have lived in Korea, Nepal, India, Liberia, Peru, and the SF Bay Area and specialize in world fusion. Phoenix Song plays didgeridoo, esraj, djembe, Native flute, harmonium and sings like an angel. They love to free people’s voices and drums in private and group classes.

Sam Jackson, founder and director of VibrantStillness is a masterful Crystal Bowls player. His resonant melodies and floating harmonics unite the spaces of composition and sound healing. As a founding musician of Grace Cathedral’s Yoga on the Labyrinth, his Crystal Bowls and Paiste Gongs have inspired thousands of yoga practitioners to ground into their moving meditation with a vibrant sense of calm and presence.

Special Guests

Janet Stone’s yoga journey began at 17 under Maharaji, her meditation teacher, whose reverence for simplicity and joy lives on in her practice and teachings to this day. She shares from the depth of her own sadhana (sustained practice), her studentship in the eight-limbed path, her creative approach to asana, and her reverence for bhakti (devotional, heart-centered yoga, including chanting mantra). With over thirty years in studentship to the practice and twenty years of teaching, Janet offers classes that challenge students to investigate what they think they know, to hold compassion for what they discover within themselves, and to remember presence, the long view, and the radical depth of our interconnectedness.

DJ Drez is in demand as a producer, musical director, and sound ambassador. A master of his craft in the studio and on stage, Drez cuts and composes profoundly original tracks that facilitate body movement practice of all forms — be it dance, yoga asana, or after-hours intimate/ecstatic. Drez transforms the vibe of any scene his sound is set upon. Rooted in underground L.A. hip-hop, Dr. EZ applies precise turn-table skills to a cutting-edge vision for truly universal music, intelligently integrating elements of hip-hop, world music, soul, funk, jazz, and reggae into his trademark sound and production.
