Choral Evensong Honoring The Rev. Margaret Deeths (In-Person and Livestream)
November 30, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 6:15 pm
Gather with the Bishop and Dean for Choral Evensong on the Feast of St. Andrew honoring the Rev. Margaret Deeths on the 20th anniversary of her ordination to the diaconate. We celebrate the example of Andrew who, according to the Gospel of John describes how he, a disciple of John the Baptist, was one of two disciples who followed Jesus after John had pointed him out, saying, “Behold the Lamb of God” (John 1:29). Andrew and the other disciple went with Jesus and stayed with him, and Andrew’s first act afterward was to find his brother and bring him to Jesus. We might call Andrew the first missionary in the company of disciples.
Join us for an afternoon tea in the dining room at 4 pm before the service to celebrate Margaret Deeths’ 20 years of ministry. RSVP for the 4 pm tea with Jennifer Davis at jenniferd@gracecathedral.org
Evensong is a choral service traditionally held near sunset focusing on psalms, canticles, and prayers, ranging from meditative to jubilant. The Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys sing during each Choral Evensong. Join us at this mid-week choral service and experience the beauty of Anglican Liturgy. (45 minutes)
Event Details
The entrance to the cathedral is at the top of the Great Steps. The accessible entrance is via the glass doors on Taylor Street or from the cathedral garage. Masks are strongly encouraged inside the cathedral.
