Black History Month: ‘The Purpose of Power’ Book Club with Alicia Garza

Thursday, February 25 @ 5:00 pm 6:30 pm

How can communities organize to win power for the causes that matter?

Join Black Lives Matter Co-Founder Alicia Garza and other special guests to read and dissect her new book ‘The Purpose of Power: How We Come Together When We Fall Apart.’

Hosted by Manny’s located in The Mission district of San Francisco, book club members reading ‘The Purpose of Power’ will be joined each week by black leaders who are at the forefront of our country’s civil rights movement. Facilitators will take time with our guests to dissect the assigned reading, while also taking audience questions for our special guests.

Book club began Wednesday, February 3rd, with special guest Mayor London Breed, Bart Director Lateefah Simon and Congresswoman Barbara Lee.

Tickets and more information are available on Eventbrite.
