On Saturday, January 21st, San Francisco’s famed Grace Cathedral will host a truly unique wellness event that is unlike anything done there before- AMPLIFIED YOGA. In what is certainly not to be your typical yoga experience, Amplified Yoga founder Donovan McGrath will collaborate with Rob Garza, one-half of legendary electronic world music artists Thievery Corporation, joining forces for a jubilant evening of high-energy movement and music in a truly divine setting. 

Amplified Yoga brings together ancient yogic technology with the structured energy and repetitive power of electronic music. The combined elements have a palpable effect on the body, chakras, psyche, and soul. Through Donovan’s unpretentious yet engaging yoga style, you’ll liberate yourself from negative thought patterns that keep you from living optimally. His knowledge in Kundalini yoga (one of his many various yoga certifications), will help you be as powerful as you can be in your body, vitality, mental clarity, and creativity. His use of repetitive movements (called “kriyas”) would not look out of place on a vibrant dance floor, and seem naturally bound to Garza’s musical programming (which in turn, echoes Donovan’s positive direction). As for Rob, he’s an award-winning musician, songwriter, and DJ of several decades, and his soulful and uplifting electronic-yet-organic soundscapes will amplify your presence for more potent enjoyment, awareness, and creativity, during the event and beyond. Together they’ll keep the cathedral and all its occupants thinking, feeling, and moving in tandem, ready to seize latent possibilities, and move through life more easily.

Event Details 

Doors at 6:30 pm. The entrance to the cathedral is at the top of the Great Steps. The accessible entrance is via the breezeway on Sacramento Street between Taylor and Jones Streets or via the garage elevator. Masks are strongly encouraged inside the cathedral.
