Ambient Grace: A Day Without Your Love Featuring Brown Amy and Flavia Elisa Mora

Enjoy a 90-minute set of contemplative and reverent listening music, mixed live from the labyrinth of San Francisco’s cathedral for all. This unique listening experience invites you to explore the cathedral or to sit on the labyrinth or in the pews while taking in the atmospheric sounds.
Ambient Grace celebrates Pride with A Day Without Your Love, a collaborative performance featuring Brown Amy and Flavia Elisa Mora live from the Labyrinth at Grace Cathedral.
Through a set collaboration intertwining ambient music and poetry, Brown Amy and Flavia Elisa Mora tell the story of a queer love through its swooning, love making, heart-breaking and messy stages. “A Day Without Your Love” debuting on Pride month will represent the colorful array love has to offer through a combination of eclectic ambient sounds that mirror the energy and emotion of each poetic segment. The sound is a combination of track selection, mixing and sound production by Brown Amy and Flor y Canto poetry and vocals by Flavia Elisa Mora.
Ambient Grace is presented in partnership with and will stream simultaneously to Fault Radio, a Bay Area-based online radio station and member of Intersection for the Arts.
As a part of the celebration of Pride Month, we will display two dresses designed by Paul Dillinger, VP – Head of Global Product Innovation and part of the design team at Levi Strauss & Company. He has generously loaned Grace Cathedral 2 gowns made from polyester taffeta, silk taffeta, and braided nylon, and both represent the flags used by the LGBTQ+community to express solidarity and pride.
Refunds and Exchanges
- Refunds will be granted if the requests are received 24 hours before the start of the event.
- Requests to exchange a ticket for another date will be granted if received by noon on the day of the event.
About the Artists
Brown Amy developed their deep connection to music from the age of 4 when they began drumming at their parents’ Spanish Gospel Church. Here is where they initially attained their musicality, followed by playing drums in various bands throughout their life. As part of expanding their music career, Brown Amy discovered a love for DJing and for the last 11+ years has been serving the Bay Area with everything from soul classic 45s to current dance tracks. As an avid record collector, Brown Amy’s extensive music knowledge, manifests sets that are unique, eclectic, intuitive and genre-bending.
Brown Amy has brought their talents to some highly respected events in the US including Honcho, Carry Nation and Outside Lands and has shared bills with some of the most respected DJs including Honey Dijon, Egyptian Lover, QuestLove, and Bay Area legend David Harness. They are a part of Chulita Vinyl Club collective, mentoring up and coming DJs as well as a founding member of SF’s multi-award-winning daytime dance party, Hard French. As both musician and DJ, they have a distinct ear for music and are currently producing original tracks.
Flavia Elisa Mora is a queer, Mexican migrant artivist, raised in occupied Ramaytush Ohlone land, in a neighborhood known now as La Mission, San Francisco. Amongst her interdisciplinary art practice, her main two focuses are muralismo and Flor y Canto poesía. Through painting on top of ladders and weaving singing into poetry, she finds herself closer to her ancestry rooted in the ranchos of AguasCalientes, Mexico. Flavia’s work delves into the exploration of her identity, relationships, migration story, family and community history.
Flavia is a published writer, she has performed poetry throughout the Bay Area, and is one of the lead artists for the mural, “Alto al Fuego en la Misión” located on 24th and Capp, San Francisco. Her passions for both muralismo and spoken word poetry collide through her understanding that both forms are vessels for preserving history, intergenerational healing tools, and expressions of the soul.
Flavia’s prioritization of her own healing ties with her belief that revolution starts from the heart. She hopes that through her art, she can help create space for inspiration and positive change in her community.
