Advent and Christmas Services

Throughout this season, Grace Cathedral’s regular and robust cycle of services accent Advent’s themes: moving from darkness to light, joyful anticipation, and preparing for Christ’s coming in our hearts, our lives and world.

Sunday, December 1

12:30 pm – Advent Wreath Workshop

3 pm Advent Procession of Lessons and Carols sung by the Choir of Men and Boys. Festive tea follows.

Christmas Eve

Tuesday, December 24

11 am The Bishop’s Christmas Pageant
Bishop Marc, children in costume and animals re-enact the Christmas story. Children are invited to arrive between 10 and 10:30 a.m. to get into costume.

4 pm Christmas Lessons and Carols
Choral music, Scripture readings and hymns with the Choir of Men and Boys. This service fills to capacity — plan to arrive early!

7:30 pm Christmas Eve Choral Eucharist
Holy Eucharist sung by the Cathedral Camerata. The Right Rev. Marc Handley Andrus, Bishop, preaching.

11 pm – Christmas Eve Choral Eucharist
A festive Choral Eucharist with the Choir of Men and Boys and orchestra. The Very Rev. Malcolm Clemens Young, Dean, preaching.  Music begins at 10:30 p.m. This service fills to capacity — plan to arrive early!

Christmas Day

Wednesday, December 25

11 am Christmas Day Choral Eucharist
A joyful Choral Eucharist sung by the Men of the Choir. The Rev. Kristin Saylor, Director of Formation, preaching.
