About Yoga on the Labyrinth

Join us for this gentle hatha yoga practice. All ages and abilities welcome. $10 – $20 donation suggested.

About the Class

Yoga class is held every Tuesday from 6:15 to 7:30 pm. The class is very popular, and it is a good idea to arrive by 6 pm. We take a break for the holidays after December 5 and return in the new year.

The class begins with a brief reflection, usually offered by the Rev. Jude Harmon, our Director of Innovative Ministries or by our dean, Malcolm Young (formally the Very Rev. Dr. Malcolm Clemens Young, but just call him Malcolm.) The class is led by well-known San Francisco yoga teacher and author Darren Main, and there is beautiful live music every week. Ramona Draeger, our house manager, leads a dedicated team of volunteers; without them, our class would not be possible.

The class is free, but a $10-$20 donation is suggested. If you can give more, that will help us offer yoga to someone who has less. If you can’t afford to donate, we welcome you all the same. Donation boxes are located at cathedral entrances; your donations support the teacher, musicians and the cathedral. We are always looking for volunteers to help in non-financial ways as well.

We welcome participants of all ages and abilities. Watch this great story about one of our most dedicated yogis, Charles, who doesn’t let Multiple Sclerosis hold him back from being an active participant.

What to Bring

Please bring a yoga mat and any other yoga props you wish to use. We have a limited number of mats available to loan for a $5 minimum donation. Only water is permitted in the cathedral. Dress in warm, comfortable exercise clothes as the cathedral can be quite cool. If you have any serious injuries or medical concerns, please discuss practicing yoga with your doctor.
