Grace Cathedral

Our Stitching Ministry have been making hats for people in need. Recently, we gave 100 hats and scarves  to the Rev. Andy Lobban for guests at the Winter Interfaith Shelter.  Another bagful  went to Syrian refugees in Canada, where it’s really cold.  

The Stitching Ministry (link to this page under volunteer) is one of the many volunteer opportunities (link to many ways to volunteer) at Grace Cathedral that engages people’s personal passions. We’re a group of knitters, crocheters, and other workers with yarn, who gather on the first, third and last Sundays of the month, in the cathedral library from 12:45 until 2:45—same time, same place. We would love to have you join us, and everyone is welcome on a drop-in basis, to stay for as long or as short as your schedule allows.

Had it with hats? We’ve also been making baby items. They’re fun and quick to make, and the Rev. Nina Pickerell can use as many as we can make for her.  She says, “Any size from premature to 2T, and machine-washable, please.”

In the past, we’ve made items  for “Afghans for Afghans,” a really great organization. They are again accepting warm knit babies’ and children’s stockings, mittens, and sweaters. These should be wool or another animal fiber. If you want to knit for them, have a look at their web site  to be sure you’re making garments that they can use:
