A Wonderful Preschool Camping Trip
Blog|Brooke Giesen
The Community Preschool went camping in The Presidio at Rob Hill Campground on Friday night. With the help of Camping at the Presidio program, which is run in partnership with Bay Area Wilderness Training, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, the Presidio Trust and the National Park Service, we were able to give some of the families their first-ever camping experience. There were 53 campers in total.

We bussed over to the campsite, where we were given all the gear we needed and set up camp. After setting up, we went for a 1.3 mile hike to Andy Goldworthy’s Spire and then the parents gathered to prepare dinner. We were visited by two Park Rangers who read us a book, sang songs with us and told us stories. We made s’mores and watched the sunset from Immigrant Point. We slept soundly in our tents and in the morning shared pancakes, bacon and fruit for breakfast and then ventured on another hike. |
We enjoyed being together as a community while surrounded by nature. We even got to see a coyote stride through our campsite!
