Were you blown away by the voices of the Salisbury Cathedral Choir in The Forty Part Motet, the immersive sound installation presented by SFMOMA at the Fort Mason Center for Arts + Culture last year?

Or maybe you were never able to get tickets to this wildly-popular sound sculpture by Janet Cardiff that projected a forty-part choral performance by the Salisbury Cathedral Choir through forty individual speakers?

This Sunday, March 26, hear those exquisite voices live, not recorded, as Grace Cathedral presents two free performances of the Salisbury Cathedral Choir. This world-renowned musical ensemble, soon to turn eight hundred years old, will sing Mozarts Coronation Mass with the Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys at the 11 a.m. Choral Eucharist.

Then, at 4 p.m., the Salisbury Cathedral Choir presents a concert of sacred masterpieces. The concert begins with a piece by Renaissance composer Thomas Tallis, whose Spem in Alium (Hope in Any Other) was the exquisite music featured in The Forty Part Motet. The Choir will also sing works by Bach, Faur, Franck and Gibbons.

Tours by the Salisbury Cathedral Choir are rare, and the 4 p.m. concert at Grace is the last stop of these Meistersingers West Coast trip. Its also free, unlike other Bay Area appearances by the Choir, reflecting Grace Cathedrals mission to elevate compassion, inclusivity, creativity and learning and to be a gift to the city of San Francisco.
