A Cathedral Thanksgiving

Blog|Grace

Every year, Grace Cathedral hosts an open Thanksgiving dinner. Volunteers come together to prepare the meal on Wednesday and early Thursday, then, after a Thanksgiving Eucharist, everyone enjoys the feast. We give thanks for the old and new friends who join us to break bread each year. The 70-plus guests in attendance this past Thursday included members of our congregation and staff, neighborhood friends and tourists desiring a dinner with more meaning than a restaurant reservation. Enjoy photos from the dinner below.

Our annual Thanksgiving celebration is just one of the many ways we share the love of God with our community during the holiday season. We hope you’ll join us at more of our upcoming holiday celebrations: the ever-enchanting tree lighting ceremony in Huntington Park, beautiful Advent and Christmas services, our beloved Christmas concerts and so much more. We are especially excited to unveil Jacob’s Dream: A Luminous Path, the work of our 2016 Artists in Residence, Jim Campbell and Benjamin Bergery. Join us for Light Up: The Creative Process, a Forum conversation with the artists on Saturday, December 11 before the official opening at 5 p.m. later that day. The installation will be on view in the cathedral from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Make sure you catch a glimpse of this stunning light installation during your visit to the cathedral.
